Red River Systems Readiness Engineer (Splunk) in United States

System Readiness Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced System Readiness Engineer to join our team. The System Readiness Engineer will be critical in the management and monitoring of all installed systems and infrastructure. They will also be responsible for executing risk management and developing mitigation standards. They will also develop and review performance metrics. This position requires up to 25% travel in and around the Maryland, Virginia, and DC area.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field or applicable work experience

  • Secret security clearance

  • Six years of experience as a System Readiness Engineer, preferably in the government sector

  • Meet DoD 8570/8140 IAT/IAM II/III

  • Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g. VMware, Virtual Box)

  • Experience with automation software

  • Solid scripting skills

  • Experience with monitoring systems

Desired Certifications:

  • Certification as a Splunk Architect

  • Splunk Enterprise Security Certified Administrator

  • Project Management Professional

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional

  • Certified Systems Engineering Professional

  • Software Engineering Master Certification

Responsibilities:

  • As a System Readiness Engineer, you will be responsible for:

o Overseeing the development, testing, and implementation of system solutions, ensuring they meet or exceed performance standards and client expectations

o Facilitate seamless system integration and resolve any technical issues that may arise

o Conduct thorough system analyses, develop readiness reports, and provide recommendations for system enhancements

o Work closely with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure system alignment with their objectives

o Executes risk assessment and develops mitigation strategies.

o Plans cost, schedule, and execution plan for projects.

o Develops and reviews technical performance metrics.

o Establishes goals to help make project deadlines.

o Runs simulations to predict system performance under different conditions.

o Analyzes data from tests.

o Presents test results during internal and external meetings.

o Works with customers to ensure that the systems meet operational and system requirements.

o Administration and maintenance of Splunk Core and Technical Add-Ons

o Conduct system health checks for Splunk and provide recommendations on performance improvements.

o Administer Splunk servers from the command line and work with configuration files. (Ansible Automation, Python, CentOS 7, RHEL 7)

o Develop custom Splunk apps to meet customer needs in a variety of domains: IT Security, Financial, IT ops, Human Resources, Physical Security, etc.

As a System Readiness Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, optimization, and availability of infrastructures and systems. Your holistic understanding of both the operational and scope aspects of systems will ensure the success of large-scale government programs. You will work in a collaborative and dynamic environment, interacting with various stakeholders.
